CSO was founded in Florence as a workshop for precision mechanics and optics in 1967, by Sergio Mura and Giuseppe Matteuzzi. Since its founding it has became an international leader for manufactur of ophthalmic instruments. The factory, now with an area of nearly 7000 square metres, is situated in Badia a Settimo, near Florence in Italy.

Since CSO's founding in 1967, it has always looked with care to the needs of the ophthalmic market. In more than thirty years CSO has expanded its instruments line and its presence has grown all around the world. With great sensibility to final users needs, CSO has grown day after day, making instruments with high technology solutions and great reliability and safety for users.

Following its commercial and production growth, started during 90s, C.S.O. installed new plants and now some new imaging and management software were developed.

During the last years CSO add some engineers and software developers to its staff, making a more powerful and reliable research and development sector. The latest electronic and computer technologies are now used and an excellent support staff is taking care of customers satisfaction.

Thanks to an efficient and realiable cooperating and commercial staff, C.S.O. reached during the years a leader position in the international ophthalmic instruments market.

Today CSO has some excellent and innovative instruments like the Corneal Topographer/Pupillometer (patent pending) with FireWire technology, the new Digital Slit Lamp SL990 and SL980, the new Non-Contact Endothelium Microscope (patent pending) and the Retimax for Standard Ocular Electrophysiology.

CSO Quality System is certified in accordance with the ISO9001 and ISO 13485 standard. The quality of our processes has been certified by CSQ.
